Skills Generation is thrilled to announce our inclusion in the Queensland Government Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) Rural and Remote Pilot 2024, bringing quality training in select Community Services qualifications to the Mount Isa, Isaac and Banana Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The Pilot program is a 12-month trial aiming to increase high-quality, face-to-face training options for Queenslanders living in Central and Northern rural and remote communities. It will also support employers in those regions to grow and upskill their workforce through locally delivered training and assessment in priority qualifications.
Eligible students will have access to Government funding through heavily subsidised course fees.
Residents in the Mount Isa, Banana and Isaac regions will have to opportunity to enrol with Skills Generation to gain employability skills and entry level qualifications for the rapidly growing Community Services sector:
- CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services – Mount Isa LGA
- CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support – Mount Isa, Banana and Isaac LGAs
- CHC40321 Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention – Mount Isa LGA
- CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health – Mount Isa and Banana LGAs
Skills Generation’s Rural and Remote Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Rose Harris, has been out and about talking about the Pilot program with interested students, employers and community stakeholders in the regions.
She has found that enthusiasm is high surrounding the concept of ‘Skilling for Social Strength’.
“We are excited to be working with locals in the regions to develop training programs that communities need and want. With local stakeholder input and guidance, we can ensure we are responding to gaps in training in different rural and remote areas, to help grow and strengthen critical workforces, and improve individuals’ participation in employment and the economy, contributing to a strong, vibrant and resilient community,” Rose said.
Rose is keen to hear from any interested individuals, employers and community organisations from the Mount Isa, Isaac and Banana communities. Feel welcome to reach out to her on 0427 339 750 or [email protected]
Skills Generation courses will commence in Mount Isa in August 2024 with a rolling schedule of classes opening in other locations until March 2025.
